Description

This oil starts with Roman chamomile harvested in France and ends with a double maceration process that runs the flowers through two full infusion cycles in cold-pressed jojoba. The result is noticeably darker and richer than a single-pass infusion, with a higher phytochemical load and a scent that sits closer to the plant than anything you will find in a commercial product.

Roman chamomile has published evidence for skin-calming, anti-inflammatory, and nervine applications. The infused oil format delivers those compounds directly in a stable, skin-compatible carrier. Jojoba is technically a liquid wax rather than an oil, which means it does not oxidize, does not go rancid, and absorbs without leaving a greasy residue.

This is a single-origin batch made from one sourcing trip. When it is gone it is gone.

The Herb

The Herb
Chamaemelum nobile · Roman chamomile · Sourced in France

Roman chamomile is distinct from German chamomile in both chemistry and character. Where German chamomile is blue from azulene and leans anti-inflammatory, Roman chamomile is pale gold and leans nervine: calming to the nervous system, softening to reactive skin, and traditionally used for tension held in the body. Published research supports topical use for skin sensitivity and mild nervous system support.

The Infusion
Carrier: Cold-pressed golden jojoba
Method: Double maceration via LEVO infuser
Herb to oil ratio: 10:1
Passes: Two full cycles through fresh botanical material
Origin: France
Batch size: 10 to 12 bottles

The Infusion

Roman chamomile's published evidence covers skin inflammation and sensitivity, mild anxiolytic effects, and sleep support. The active compounds, primarily esters including isobutyl angelate and isoamyl angelate, are fat-soluble and transfer well into an infused oil format.

This is an infused carrier oil, not an essential oil. The aromatic volatile compounds are present at lower concentrations than in a distilled essential oil, while the heavier fat-soluble plant compounds are present at higher concentrations. Different chemistry, different application, complementary benefits.

NRI's botanical research program includes published work on chamomile for pediatric and adult applications.
