Overview
Our research team is currently enrolling for a 2- month stress reduction clinical trial. This study is evaluating the effects of different forms of ashwagandha supplementation on stress and cortisol levels.
We will measure your stress levels through online surveys and your cortisol levels through saliva taken first thing in the morning.
Who is in charge this study?
The PI (primary investigator) for this study, and for all Nutraceuticals Research Institute studies, is Dr. Jessie Cavanaugh.
Dr Cavanaugh is a Harvard-trained clinical researcher who specializes in natural product research specifically to improve the health of women and children. With over 20 years of experience in the field and an extensive history of producing groundbreaking research, Dr Cavanaugh is one of the world's leading natural product researchers.
While you are in the study, you will have exclusive access to Dr. Cavanaugh for any questions that may arise.
Who can join?
To join this study, you must be a female who is 30-59 years old and can attest to the following:
- I am not pregnant or trying to become pregnant.
- I am in good overall health.
- I do not have any of the following: a heart condition, diabetes, liver disorders, kidney disorders, or thyroid disorders.
- I do not smoke/vape or drink more than 8 alcoholic beverages a week.
- I am not currently taking an ashwagandha supplement or any other stress-relief product.
You must also be able to personally meet with a researcher in the Northern Alabama or Middle Tennessee area to pick up your supplies and to drop off your frozen saliva samples at the end of the study.
Responsibilities
If you join the study, you will need to complete the following tasks:
- Days 1, 2, 59, and 60: Immediately after waking, spit into the tube we provide. After 30 minutes, spit into a second tube.
- Days 1, 30, 60: Complete an online survey (10-15 minutes).
- Days 1-60: Take 1 capsule each day.
